Creating realistic models of digital humans and other animals with computer graphics has become an exciting challenge for 3D artists and experts. The hardness relies not only on the modeling of the animals, but also on the shading of animal skins, to make it appear natural on the human eye. Maya(R) is one of the 3D software packages for digital content creators, producing world-class games, 3D animation, and visual effects [3]. Creating and modeling of human and animal characters in Maya(R) have been as comfortable as ever seen. To some certain extents, itís desirable to have a sub system in the form of Maya Plug-in, which allows to control over the shading of digital characters interactively to reduce scripting time and enhance productivity.


The master objective of this project is to develop an Animal Skin Texturing System (ASTS), which is a Maya(R) Plug-in to provide intuitive, controllable, and "easy of use" animal skin shaders library in order to assist Maya(R) artists in producing animal characters for gaming and film productions.
